I love Chloe so much! It's so ironic that I came across your LJ - I noticed there was a Merlin/Chloe fic and squee!gasmed because I ship them together, too - I even made a collab part for a video using them - I love them. I ship Merlin/Chloe and Arthur/Lois - little bit swapped, too (Merlin/Lois, Arthur/Chloe). To me, the shows have so many parallels.
Merlin and Clark essentially represent the same character
Arthur represents Chloe [best friend, confidante (not with everything YET), romantic interest (I mean, what?)] and Oliver (best friends, they go through tight spots, great chemistry, complement each other, romantic interest (Oops, my ship-whore is showing XD).
Morgana is sort of Lex and Davis - Davis in that she is very misunderstood, forced to go to the dark side, but was without her "Chloe" (Arthur) to confide in and be trusted. Lex in that her father would have ostracized (or executed) her if he knew the truth about her having magic, like how Lionel hated seeing a soft side to his son and wanted him to grow up with the same ideals. Also, Morgana was the one who ended up killing him (much like Lex killed his father, minus falling through the window).
Uther is Lionel in so many ways - There was evil!Lionel who was manipulative and savvy in the ways of bullying, very ruthless. But then there was good!Lionel (albeit it more to "Chloe/Oliver" rather than "Clark," since Uther would have had Merlin executed for damn sure if he knew he was the most powerful sorcerer to ever live). There were so many moments when I loved Uther's relationship with Arthur (I'm very happy they decided to keep them together on the show, rather than Arthur being dropped off at his uncle's and called Wart until crowned king, poor bb).
Gwen is the most complicated character to place in Smallville just because she fills so many roles. She was Merlin's first real friend and they bonded immediately (much like Clark and Pete). Not to mention I've wanted them together since they kissed in the first season and all the tender moments they shared as friends, so I see her as Lois, too, and since Lois and Chloe are cousins, there's a great Arthur/Gwen friendship there as well. She is always there for Arthur(Chloe), but with some of S4 Merlin, with the whole Morgana(Davis)/Wraith!Lancelot(can we call him Doomsday?)/Gwen thing, she is sort of relegated to being the Jimmy of that relationship, being torn by her own inner enemies.
The Knights of Camelot are sort of like the Justice League. Ugh, I could go on and on about how all the ships on Smallville have mirrors in Merlin when compared to the roles I've delegated to them. Hunith is very much Martha Kent, and Balinor is like a very brief Jonathan Kent (there just enough to really provide wisdom for Merlin when he didn't know who he was).
Onto the second ironic thing about me discovering you today, I had just volunteered to make two collab parts crossing over Chloe and Angel - I think a good rule of thumb is to assume that even though you may have the first video of them up, fanfiction has done it first haha! That sort of spiralled out of control, especially since this is the first time I've ever seen your blog, sorry.
