“How about two months and uninterrupted control of the remote on Saturday nights?” Megan raised an eyebrow.
“Every Saturday night? For how long?”
“As long as the winner chooses.” Megan smirked. “If the heat’s too intense for you, big brother, then get out of the kitchen.”
“I can take it.” Drake shook her hand. “You’ve got a deal.”
“Fine.” Megan stood up, an evil glint in her eye. “First one to make Josh cry wins. Rules are – there are no rules.”
Drake vaulted over the back of the couch, grinning widely. “You are so going down.”

“What, would you rather walk back to San Francisco?” Drake leaned back on his elbows, reclining lazily in the grass growing alongside of the road.
“Oh, so this is your grand solution?” Mindy rolled her eyes. “This is stupid and dangerous.”
“Please, I hitch all the time. It’s perfectly safe.” Drake ginned. “Just avoid semi trucks.”
“Well if you do it all the time, then why don’t you get your lousy thumb up here with mine?” Mindy raised an eyebrow.
“Please. You’re a beautiful woman on the side of the road, all alone and helpless – there’s no way that the next hero that drives along won’t want to stop and be your knight in shining armor.”
Mindy stared at him, then huffed. “We’re going to die out here.”
“Hey, who risked detention to drive you up to UCLA for an interview that you technically didn’t need?” Drake raised an eyebrow. “Don’t think I forgot about all those good boyfriend points that you promised me.”
“Well your good boyfriend points are rapidly dwindling, what with you pimping me out roadside style and all.”
“No pimping. Just encouraging.” Drake smirked. “You could show a little leg and we’d get outta here twice as fast.”
“Dream on.”
Drake sighed. “You are so intensive.”
“That’s insensitive, mon amour,” Mindy said, sickly sweet.
“Whatever.”
“If I get murdered, I hope you know that I blame you. Just letting you know in advance.”
Drake nudged her with his foot. “Car’s coming. Work it.”
Mindy sighed and held out her thumb unenthusiastically. “I hate you.”
“Work it. Work it!” Drake chuckled when she glared at him venomously. “Come on, wiggle your hips or something.”
“No!” she hissed.
“Coward.”
Mindy huffed and tried for an enticing smile as a small red car came speeding down the road, slowly coming to a stop. Taking a deep breath, she leaned down to the passenger window. “Hey there, I – oh, God.”
“Ms. Crenshaw.” Mrs. Hayfer raised one highly glossed eyebrow. “Fancy meeting you here.”
Drake popped up behind Mindy’s left shoulder. “Mrs. Hayfer! Thank God we ran into you, see – we were out here gathering leaves for an extra credit – “
“Save it.” Mrs. Hayfer shook her head slowly. “In the back. Now.” She gave a small, evil smile. “This is just wonderful. Two for the price of one – and it’s not even my birthday.”
Sighing, Mindy gave a tired glare to Drake before climbing into the backseat. As Drake moved to follow her, but stopped when the English teacher held out one manicured claw. “What?”
Mrs. Hayfer grinned. “I hate you.”
“Yeah. I know.”

Veronica smiled at her ceiling before rolling over on her stomach and readjusting her cell phone to her ear. “Yeah, I miss having a dog.”
Mac’s chuckle echoed on the line. “Well, you’re not going to live in there forever. Or at least I hope so, I’ll bet FBI agents don’t live in dorms.”
The soon to be new agent threaded her fingers in her hair and smiled, shaking her blond mane. “Probably. If they did, I’d have to quit.” She joked. “I’d miss you too much.”
There was a quick stunned silence at the end of the line. Their ongoing dare to see where the faux lesbian playing had reached its limits. They had never talked about actual feelings before.
“Mac?”
“I love you, Veronica.” The brunette whispered on her phone.
Said Veronica pressed her eyelids together and listened to her heart race for a moment. “I so wish I could hug you right now.” She sighed sadly. “I’ll be home for Christmas.”
“I’ll wait for you by the fire, wearing a ribbon or something.”
Veronica laughed, and as she pulled the covers over her she knew she would only sleep well once she had finally touched her, the person whose soft laughter was still echoing in her head and soothing her.

“I said I was sorry.” Drake picked up the aloe vera and squirted a generous amount onto his palm. “Scooch up a little.” Megan huffed and moved further up on the bed. “I’m not the one who decided to sit on the roof for five hours in her swimsuit,” he said, rubbing the cool gel into the skin on her back in large, firm circles. “What were you doing up there, anyway?”
“That’s classified information,” Megan said drowsily. “It hurts.”
“I know.” He moved upwards, massaging the cords of her neck. “You’ll be out of it for a few days.”
“Mmm.”
Drake gingerly moved the inky black hair off the back of her neck. “Do you want some ice water or something?”
“No.” Megan’s eyes were half closed and her voice was groggy, the sunburn having zapped all of her energy. “Just…stay with me.”
Drake rubbed his hands together, greasy from the aloe vera. “I…shouldn’t.”
“So?”
He sighed and placed his hands on the small of her back. “Okay.”
“Good.” Megan smiled self-satisfactorily, moving her head slightly so it was leaning against his knee. “Did I say you could stop rubbing?”
“Yes, ma’am.”

Ralph and Sam turned to look at him incredulously. “What?”
Sam shrugged. “I opened it up randomly to two different pages and got ‘ivory’ and ‘ham.’” He grinned. “I think it’s cool.”
“You are unhinged, man.” Derek propped his feet up on the coffee table. “I still don’t see why we can’t go with D-Rock.”
“Because you’re stupid,” Sam mumbled, flipping through the pages of the dictionary.
“Look, guys. Being in a band is all about the frontman – about presenting an image. And what image is better than mine?” Derek crossed his arms. “You know I’m right.”
Ralph stopped drumming on his thighs for a second and looked up. “Image, image – yeah, he’s right! We should wear costumes. Like KISS!”
“Yeeeah, no.” Derek shook his head and headed to the kitchen. “Come and get me when you come to your senses.”
Ralph started drumming again, pounding heavily on his knees. “D-Rock. Yeah.” He descended into a rapid head bob, shaking his hair all over the place.
Sam sighed heavily, throwing the dictionary aside. “Dammit."

With her make-up, cigarettes and tough talk she made it easy for him to forget how young she was, to pretend it didn’t matter but it did. It mattered to him.
Slade’s physical abilities were considerable but there was always someone out there who was stronger, faster, or simply impervious but none of them had ever been able to touch Slade because he was smart. No one was smarter. He learned his enemy’s weakest points and attacked it directly, clean and precise as a surgical laser.
Playing mind-games and bedroom games with a teenaged sociopath was not smart. It was muddled, poor planning, neither clean nor precise.
He told himself the ends justified the means. She’d deliver the Titans to him, the Ravager’s contact with H.I.V.E would be fulfilled and Grant could finally rest in some semblance of peace. And as for Tara Markov, she was no innocent. He hadn’t corrupted her. She was a lying little whore and betrayal was her natural element.
Even as he thought this, he shuddered. When had he become this desperate? When had his life become so obscene?

Sharpay drummed her manicured hands against he desk top in annoyance, "if I tell you my middle name will you leave me alone?" Troy nodded with a smile, Sharpay sighed, "Sharpay Claire Evans, happy?"
His smile grew at learning a new fact about the Ice Queen, "Claire? Claire," he tested the name, "It's pretty."
"Mister Bolton, Miss Evans this is detention not a social hall. Silence is required for the remainder of you time in this class room.""
Troy offered one final smile to Sharpay before he turned to face the front of the nearly empty classroom and at Mrs. Darbus. Sharpay fought the smile that wished to curve its way to her lips.

They'd been together as a threesome for about four years when Mindy suggested it. She lay back in their bed, stretching sinuously, a sight both boys appreciated wearily. She was completely naked and totally in control of herself. She'd worn them out like usual and Josh was thinking about trying to beat Drake to the shower when Mindy spoke.
"I think we should get married."
"WHAT?" both men said simultaneously. Then they looked at each other, and back at their girlfriend. "WHAT?" they said again.
Mindy stretched again and said, "I think we should get married. Wouldn't that be fun?"
"It's not even legal," Josh pointed out.
"So?" she said, turning to look at him. "Neither is what we just did, technically. Polygamy is illegal."
Drake opened his mouth. "Even in Utah," she said, anticipating his question. He shut his mouth and nodded, trying to look like he'd known that all along.
"Think about it. I could wear a white dress and pretend to be a virgin, you guys could look like cute little penguins... I'd just want to pinch your cheeks." She giggled and it made her breasts vibrate. Drake's mouth went dry.
"I don't know that it's a good idea," he said anyway, anticipating her scowl and cowering when he received it.
"Why not? It would be exciting. I know Josh always wanted to get married, didn't you, Josh?"
Josh nodded. "Ever since I was a little boy," he said expansively. "Though I hadn't exactly planned at that time to have another man there. Except for the best man. And my dad."
Drake raised an eyebrow. "Not that I mind," Josh corrected.
"Plus," Mindy said, "it would really piss my mother off."
"That you were 'prostituting yourself out to two stupid bastards?'" Josh said, quoting Mindy's mother's reaction to the announcement that Mindy was seeing them, yes both of them, and damn the conequences. That had been an exciting Christmas indeed.
"That I would honestly marry either of you," she replied. "She thinks this is just a fling. She prays for me all the time." She rolled her eyes.
"Our parents weren't exactly thrilled either," Drake pointed out.
"At least they didn't threaten to kill either of you," she replied. She sat up in the bed and stretched again, letting out a satisfied breath.
"Good point," Josh mumbled. "So you really want to do this?"
"Of course I do. What better way to acquire two hot slaveboys?" she said, tweaking his nose and then sliding down the bed and getting up. She turned around and grinned to see them naked in the bed there. It was their place-- with her. In their bed. Forever and always. She wasn't one much for sentimentalism, but this, she had to admit, was probably pretty sentimental.
Drake looked at Josh. "Who's buying the ring?" he asked.
Mindy walked across the bedroom and stepped into the bathroom. She leaned her head back into the room and smiled. "Both of you," she said. "I like big diamonds."
She shut the door and the shower began to run. After a moment, the boys shrugged and got up, putting their clothes back on.
"Say," Drake said thoughtfully, "since she proposed to us, shouldn't she be buying us rings?"
Josh considered. "Yeah, that's probably not going to happen," he pointed out.
"True," Drake said, "but it might be worth bringing up."
"Not unless you want to be the one wearing the dress," Josh replied.
