Derek sighed. “Ralphie. We’re rock stars. Not superheroes.”
Ralph looked at him blankly. “We can’t be both?”
Sam shifted his dictionary, spread open on his lap. “The Clackers?”
“Too stupid.”
“The Corals?”
Derek frowned. “Too aquatic.”
“The Cranberries?”
“Taken. Are you through the Cs yet?” Sam sighed, shaking his head.
“Okay, let’s try something else.” Sam flipped through the pages rapidly. “Okay – Ivory Ham!”
Ralph and Sam turned to look at him incredulously. “What?”
Sam shrugged. “I opened it up randomly to two different pages and got ‘ivory’ and ‘ham.’” He grinned. “I think it’s cool.”
“You are unhinged, man.” Derek propped his feet up on the coffee table. “I still don’t see why we can’t go with D-Rock.”
“Because you’re stupid,” Sam mumbled, flipping through the pages of the dictionary.
“Look, guys. Being in a band is all about the frontman – about presenting an image. And what image is better than mine?” Derek crossed his arms. “You know I’m right.”
Ralph stopped drumming on his thighs for a second and looked up. “Image, image – yeah, he’s right! We should wear costumes. Like KISS!”
“Yeeeah, no.” Derek shook his head and headed to the kitchen. “Come and get me when you come to your senses.”
Ralph started drumming again, pounding heavily on his knees. “D-Rock. Yeah.” He descended into a rapid head bob, shaking his hair all over the place.
Sam sighed heavily, throwing the dictionary aside. “Dammit."
