Well I was able to see the first episode/pilot of the new show NEW AMSTERDAM! It's going to be on the Fox channel if you're interested and can be seen starting March 10, 2008.
Summary: New York City homicide detective John Amsterdam is cursed with immortality after he stopped the murder of a Native Indian girl in 1642 by stepping in front of a sword. Due to this act of kindness, the Indian girl rescued Amsterdam from the stab wound by making him immortal and the curse that will only be lifted when he meets his true love/soulmate. IMDB
My Review: (Hopefully it contains no spoilers) While the pilot wasn't as good as it could have been, I thought the show was really good anyway. The concept, almost like Beauty and the Beast (but like not), is cool. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (John Amsterdam) was excellent, and I have to say he is pretty hot, lol. I can't remember where he's from, but I know I've seen him in something. Zuleikha Robinson (Eva Marquez) does a good job as his partner, and I really loved their interaction. Alexie Gilmore (Sara Dillane) who apparently plays his true love, was alright. I can't say I hate her character or not yet, but I don't like her yet. Stephen Henderson (Omar) was hilarious... I just loved that car scene near the end. The only thing I really didn't like though was that we're introduced to his soulmate in this episode... see what I would have done was keep his true love a secret or not reveal it until later seasons. I just think it's a useless thing if we're already introduced to his true love/soulmate on the first episode. You have to build the characters a little more - learn the limits and characters more before revealing that kind of story to a show. I really thought that was one of the things that weakened the episode.
Favorites: (so far) John Amsterdam, Eva Marquez, Omar, John/Eva,
